Course Offerings

CSRE is actively recruiting professionals to provide quality education in CPR and advanced cardiovascular care. “If you are passionate about saving lives, motivated to facilitate learning, feel comfortable in group settings, and find it easy to make complex concepts understandable to others, you may be a perfect candidate.”1

If you are a currently certified AHA instructor looking for new opportunities, please review this information and complete the Instructor Candidate intake form found at the bottom of the page. A Training Center Faculty member will be in touch with you about affiliating a secondary training center or transferring your primary affiliation. The Instructor Course will vary slightly from what you read below and will be customized to your needs and goals in joining the CSRE Team.

Why choose CSRE for your instructor course and affiliation?

  • CSRE includes the Instructor Manual, Student Workbook, and Instructor Videos in our course fee. This is a financial benefit that keeps the instructor candidate from encountering “unexpected” costs.
  • CSRE will assist you in aligning with a national Training Center. This means that you can teach classes in any state (including Hawaii and Alaska) upon certification.
  • If you choose to join the CSRE Team, then we will ask you to commit to teaching a minimum of 4 classes for CSRE over the next two years; two classes or skills sessions each year.
  • If you are an active instructor with us, then the cost of your renewals and updates may be reduced or even free.
  • If you teach for CSRE, we will assist you with setting up classes and receiving student registrations. We’ve already established a rapidly growing customer base and, with minimal information from you, we can enable you to reach students on your schedule at your pace.

What’s included in the Heartsaver Instructor Course Fee ($485)?

Upon receipt of payment, and your selection of Instructor Manual, Student Workbook, and Video formats, CSRE will order the online Instructor Essentials Course eLearning code and email you the directions to get started. CSRE will order the instructor materials and they will be shipped to you (if physical) or delivered via email (if digital).

Online Instructor Essentials Course eLearning code from American Heart Association (AHA)

The Instructor Essentials Online is the self-directed, online portion of the Instructor Essentials blended learning course. Course content covers steps for becoming an AHA Instructor and the steps of the AHA instruction cycle: Prepare, Teach, Test & Remediate, Close, and Keep Current. This course includes core information about instructing AHA Provider courses, and specific information about a given discipline.

AHA Instructor Manual, Student Workbook, and Instructor Videos (no additional cost to you)

The CSRE Instructor Course package differs from that offered by other organizations in that the course fee includes the cost of the training materials, along with the required instructor materials, so that you won’t be surprised by additional costs once you get started.

If you want to get started instructing, and don’t see yourself investing in skills equipment to teach on your own, we can reduce the cost of the Instructor Course to remove the Course Videos. You will not be able to purchase certification cards for your students, or be a Lead Instructor outside of CSRE, until you add this resource to your training bag. This is a terrific option for those who are looking to teach with CSRE for minimal investment and earn a little extra income on the side!

CSRE Instructor Orientation

We will take the time needed to walk you through the various aspects of the AHA Program Administration Manual (PAM) and the expectations of an AHA Instructor. We will suggest websites, apps, and other tools that will help you succeed.

Discipline Specific Instructor Class

While the Instructor Orientation takes a 10,000 foot view of being an instructor, this class looks specifically at the discipline you will be instructing. We will review the new instructor materials you now possess and how to apply them to instruction – proper preparation, teaching techniques, skills practice, and skills testing.

Monitored Class Evaluation

During the monitored class, you will be evaluated on presentation skills, understanding of the AHA materials and agenda, and ability to instruct skills and remediate mistakes. Upon successful completion of the monitoring, we will guide you through affiliating with our Training Center and the administrative details to complete your instructor certification.

Then you will be ready to set your teaching availability, first class days, and we can start getting students lined up for you!
